The lamp/socket base has a wire that screws to the back of the cab. The lens and socket base are floating on the head-liner (on mine anyway) and so you have one short wire to the switch with a male plug and the other short wire has a ring terminal you use a screw with. The truck body as all ground.
Sure, as long as you use the correct bulb since the later single wire style has a single prong bulb base while the earlier style has a two pronged bulb base. I gather that is why they used different bulbs in them. 1004 versus 1005 or somesuch.
