Did the Aerostar ever some with an optional CD Player? I have an 89 Aero the Super Sound System with the 7-band graphic equilizer and I want to replace the cassette deck with a CD and still retain the equilizer. Or is there another car that I could salvage it from?
As far as I know there was no CD player option. If you want to have a CD player and you have the equalizer I have bad news for you.......the EQ has to go. I tried for about 3 or 4 hours and there is no way to use it and have an aftermarket cd player (and I am a sound engineer). I ended up having to take out the EQ. I installed the CD player and ran totally new wiring for power, ground and speakers. Not what I was planning on doing but thought it would be the easiest by the time I was done. Hope this helps. If you have any more questions just ask.

By The Way, a wiring harness does not work, don't waste your money!
Thanks for the info...that's not exactly what I wanted to hear. I was hoping that maybe an early 90's Mustang or Probe would have this option and it would just be a matter of going to an auto wreckers and getting one.
You can use the EQ with a factory, 6 CD changer. I have one that works great (ordered with van). All I changed was the speakers. But I don't blast out the windows. Aerostars did come with the CD in 96. But to find one is hard.
Ya, I figure a 6 disc changer would be the best and easiest choice. I can pick one up at a surplus store for under $150 cdn and they're easy to install...now all I need is $150
I have installed CD in 93 AWD EB .The wiring plug from Wallmart
is perfect for the job. You need to connect the extra blue wire to the 12v red (remote) or yellow (direct) in order to get the amp working.E-mail me for step by step kun_rp@anada.com
Why can't you use something out of say a later 90's contour, or other Ford??? Most of them use the same wiring harness... I am not sure though what the harness looks like with the EQ.. if it is just the two skinny connectors, one grey and one black, then I don't see why a cd player out of a newer ford with the same harness wouldn't work... also replace the speakers... the factories are not by anymeans quality speakers....
