Tachometer Jumping Around
1996 F350 4x4 SRW 5.8 e4od
in the last couple of months the tach on the truck has been jumping around about 100 or so rpm. for example, at idle tach will jump between 700-800 rpm. if crusing down the road, tach may jump between 1800-1900 rpm.
the engine runs nice and smooth at all speeds, so i'm fairly certain it's something in the tach itself, or in the wiring/connections. before i go chasing wires, i figured i'd ask here. any ideas? what should i check first? anyone else ever experience this?
it's more of an annoyance than anything else, but i'm hoping for an easy fix. thanks.
