4th radiator

Wow, 211,000 miles and the third radiator that was put in this truck is leaking!! Has there been a recall or has anybody heard of ford stepping up to help pay for these things. This is not right. I haven't even had the truck five years and this will be over 5 grand in radiators. Is a person suppose to budget an extra grand a year if they want to own a ford diesel? What a joke!!!! Sorry, had to vent a little. Jason

Assuming this is on your dime to repair, have you considered the Mishimoto replacement? Welded aluminum tanks instead of plastic crimped into the core.

I was unaware that the 6.7 had the same sediment problems that the 6.0 had?

From what I've read, while it may not be the same, it does have issues.

Jason,
It certainly appears that FoMoCo has no intention to address this issue. The aftermarket Mishimoto appears to make a suitable replacement. My recommendation would be to give it a try if you intend to keep the truck. I'm pretty sure I would just trade mine on something more reliable since Ford obviously builds these trucks to support the aftermarket.

Depressingly even the 2015 SD have the same radiator...

To the OP, Do you do a lot of heavy towing and in the mountains or on dirt roads?

The 6.7 doesn't have a sediment problem clogging the oil cooler like the 6.0. But unlike the 6.0 radiators that are pretty reliable the 6.7 radiator is not very reliable.

So when a Ford Dealer does a repair, Do you not start a new warranty period on that repaired component? i.e. Doesn't the Unlimited Mileage for two years apply?

FordParts.com

It seems to me that you have gone through 5 radiators in 5 years. Something should have been caught on the above warranty for repairs. Is the radiator exempt from this warranty?

I still don't understand this at all. I have 115000 with no leaks. Live on a back dirt road in for 1 mile with lot's of pot holes at times. Tow a small 3500lb trailer all over the cities. Tow a 4000lb plus truck camper around during the summer.

I don't get it either. Why is it so random?

My 2008 truck went through 4 rads, my 2011 lost one under the same duty cycle.

I mean, it's common but some trucks are worse than others.

I agree with the warranty deal though, all service and parts replacement are covered for a certain period. Is it 1 year/20,000 miles? I always run through the miles too fast and can't get this warranty to help me but maybe you can catch it this time?

Your dealer service manager should be able to make a case to have his dealer cover the cost of the parts or at least part of it. It's justifiable when it's happening this frequent.

Capt, I don't think rough roads has a lot to do with it. I tow a large GN horse trailer down Forest Service and BLM roads almost every weekend. If every there was a reason for a truck to get twisted, mine does. My 2011 F-350 went 145,000 miles with no radiator problems. Some of the roads I haul my horses down are terrible washboard. often rutted and washed out where truck and trailer are at extreme articulation to each other to where I worry about bed rails. I don't video many of the roads I drive, But was playing with a new GoPro and video a Forest Service road with my truck trailer several years ago

ruschejj That ford link say unlimited mileage on a two year warranty on any Ford replacement parts.

I agree, however, a filter is not going to solve the radiator crimp issue.

I ordered the Mishimoto yesterday. I liked that they had the video on the steps to replace it since I will probably do this next weekend. I have a 16,000lb camper that I tow a couple thousand miles in the summer but other than that a little 10K lb trailer for work once in a while. The radiator that is leaking now was installed a little over a year ago and has about 45,000 miles on it so the warranty on the replacement is probably over. I will check on Monday to be sure but at this point I don't want the factory one in there and it should only take 4-5 hrs to replace myself. Taking it to the dealer is a whole day process and its when I need the truck anyways. I do plan on keeping, I like to see how many miles this truck will last. I would never had guessed that a simple thing like a radiator was going to be such a pain in the butt. How many years have they been making radiators? It almost has to be on purpose! How many of these do you think Ford sells a year, That's a tidy little profit for them. I like my superduty's but come on with the radiators already.
