I think a 12v motor will bolt right into place for you. Some run the 6v with 12v. Can't see how that would last. Motors etc are farily easy to get. Gears, forget it. Bearings, ok.

1954 F900 Only things over the years was a new switch (the red button)
and the internal switch in the unit on the axle the motor it is still 6vts and
never had a problem. 12vt motors / switches Napa has that. These are
pretty simple to take apart. I'd probably go with 10 gauge wire. If you
get the two wires (backward to the switch) just reverse the wires.
Clean unit make a new gasket and put oil in it (oil level is written on the
cover plate) best I can ex plane.
