Hello, I have become unable to maintain my !994 Damon Challenger. So the wife and I gave it to our son who lives in Georgia. It had been running fine and moving OK. That is until he got behind the wheel to check it out and ka-blooie it immediately started to act up. The engine acts just the same as when the fuel pump quit on me. pump was replaced at about 40,000 miles. It now has a little over 55,000 miles.
I have kept the batteries charged but, it has been about 2 years since it has been on the hiway. We have replaced the fuel filter, taken all the old gas out, put new fuel in, changed the throttle position sensor and checked the fuel pressure at the rail. It holds at 40 psig. The engine starts, spits and sputters when being revved up, then backfires when easing up on the throttle. It has no power whatsoever. It will idle just fine. This has the 460 EFI engine.
Doe anyone have any suggestions as to what we might check next?
Thanks, Jerry
This is a follow up of my initial posting. After spending about one half million dollars on new engine parts, A friend and I came up with the cause of my engine problems. I also had help from Subford a member of this forum. The problem turned out to be the TR switch on the transmission. Subford and Brian from Brian's Truck Shop in Lead Hill Arkansas both suggested this switch.
I procured a new switch, installed it and presto change oh it solved the problem.
Many thanks to both you fellows and This forum,
Jerry
