Transfercase, 4x4 F150.

Forgive me if I'm getting the terminology wrong.
The gear for the speedometer thats on the shaft, not the cable, in the case.
Can it be accessed without splitting the case?

Having a hard time finding information.

Plus had a hard time getting the part. I've been told Ford still makes the gear, part number F7TZ17285AA, $11. Got it on order, see if its the right one when it gets here.

Any information appreciated.

You can just remove the rear housing to get at it

Now when you say the rear housing are you referring to just where the shaft connects to the case? These are newbie questions.

Yes, it is called the rear extension housing. It's where the rear driveshaft connects. The speedo cable goes into it and it's held on by 4 bolts.

T-50 bit required for the four bolts. When re-installing the rear extension housing just use some permatex ultra gray or equivalent for sealing (there's no gasket).
