I did a ignition on and engine off test and I come up with the following codes.
67 Neutral / Drive switch open or a/c on
33 EGR Valve opening not detected
29 Insufficient input from vechicle speed sensor
41 Oyxgen sensor dectects exhaust lean
I did a tune up with plugs & wires (used dielectric greese), pcv valve, air cleaner, oyxgen sensor, engine coolent temp senser, and changed fluids. Also checked and rechecked for vaccum leaks.
Then I unhooked the negitive on the battery for 20 minutes and rehooked it up and went for a 10 mile drive. But I still get the codes 67, 33, and 29 codes. My speed sensor works. My truck wont start when my tranny is in neutral but it will if I hold in the clutch ( I dont have my A/C on or have it in gear during the tests). And for the EGR Valve It takes 5 inches(Hg?) of vaccum for the needle to move, but I dont get or get little vaccum from the EVR (EGR Vaccum Regulator) when at idle or reved up.
Sorry for the long post but what do you think is wrong? What should I try first to solve the problem?
Nobody? Clueless? I dont think so. Too many intelligent people here. I can care less about the egr stuff unless Im going to use alot of gas without it operating? The simptoms that made me check my codes in the first place were warm engine stalls that did not happen all the time. My tach would show 300 rpm with the egnition on and engine off. And a exhaust that would sound like a pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, when it decelerated after I nailed the accerator in neutral. Please help. Thanks in advance.
Sounds like the EGR is plugged. I would pull it off and check. That could cause the stalling. Not sure about the tach problem. That popping from the exhaust after revving the engine tells me you have an exhaust leak. Most likely a muffler with a hole in it, right around the pipe area on the back side.
Also not sure about that o2 sensor reading....you replaced it and that code went away....an exhaust leak before the o2 sensor will introduce fresh air into the exhaust making the o2 read lean which could also make the computer richen the mixture.
I would look at the exhaust system first, front to back and pull that EGR to have a look.
