wheels offset vs backspacing

i wanna get new wheels for my 04 f250 and i know they have to have a 4.5 backspacing for them not to rub the leaf springs but does the offset matter when it comes to rubbing or just backspacing? the wheels i'm looking at are 18x9. with a backspacing of 5 and zero offset. thanks

Backspacing and offset are two different ways of describing the same thing.. the position of the mounting hub relative to the outer rim edges. Backspacing is hub position relative to the inside rim edge while offset is hub position relative to rim centerline which can be both positive and negative. With aftermarket wheels you generally want to make sure the backspacing is no more than stock and preferably less if larger tires and wider rims are to be fitted at the same time, offset must always be considered with total rim width as that tells you how much backspacing the rim has.
