Well I put a new cap on it today and the coolant level is just below the sticker when cold in the mornings. So I'll see how it does. It's only puked once since last weekend so hopefully the new cap solves the problem
Driving around this afternoon I was able to chirp the tires and got on the interstate a couple times accelerating hard but not WOT and no white puke when I got home!!! I'll keep checking for the next week then probally just switch down to the 8k for everyday driving
The sticker exists because Ford realized they miscalculated coolant expansion volume in the original design. Hot coolant expands about 6% compared to cold coolant, so in our ~8gallon systems, you need 61 oz of expansion space (air) in the top of the bottle or you're going to puke coolant out the cap when the coolant gets up to temp. If this is why it pukes, there is nothing wrong with your truck except it being overfilled. If you overfill, it will find its own level once you get the coolant hot, by releasing the excess. That hurts nothing - not your head gaskets, not your EGR cooler - but it looks bad because puking coolant can be a sign of problems like those.
I'd be willing to bet if you fill the degas bottle to the brim then drain it down to the new low line, you'll have about 60-70 oz of coolant in your drain pan. I'm kind of bored right now, so I wish I hadn't thrown my old bottle away - I'd go test it out! (FYI it had cracks that were leaking so I replaced it)
Well it looks like lowering the coolant level and changing the cap solved my issues!!! So far at least. The coolant still looks good, and I'm not using any either. Thank you for all the help I feel better that in not diving back into it for head gaskets. Also I've turned it down to the 8k for all my driving, the SRL was nice but I don't need the extra power and its a little bit of a pain to change back and forth when towing. Also I like these shifts a lot better, it will hold the gears longer and not jurk on the shifts. Thanks again to everyone who helped! Now I just need to get another 200k out of it!!!
