ford 390 starter...

ford 390 starter...
so the starter in my 77 f250 went and of course the header has to be unbolted because its right against the starter.... anyhow.. this isnt the right engine that the truck came with so how do i go about buying a starter for my 390 being i have no idea what it came out of and what year?

Pull the starter and take it with you.
Ask for a starter for a '76 F250 and see if it matches up. The 390 was discontinued after the 1976 model year and was never offered in either '77 or in 4WD.
