I got my new exhaust today. I knew the tube would have to narrow to 1 7/8" to meet the efi manifolds, but didn't know that Walker just welded a 6" piece of 1 7/8 tube to the 2.5". That was surprising. Also, the state of the passage or connection where the back tube--closest to firewall--meets the other is pathetic. It looks like a 6 year old boy did it with a cutting torch. It over hangs the weld by a half inch!!
I'm really having trouble believing that this is not step down in performance from my header to dual 2.25" to the muffler at the axle and 2.25" out the back. I'm considering pulling an oem dual pipe from the j/y and taking it to the muffler shop and telling them to duplicate it, and welding onto that, running dual 2.25 to the muffler and 2.50" single out the back.
The Walker 45166? I'm kind of a newbie on the forums but almost every post I have seen on those pipes says you have to take a grinder to that rear pipe connection because internally they are almost all very restrictive and poorly finished.
In my case I will be upgrading from the standard exhaust. Hopefully you will not lose anything significant in your change!
Going from headers to EFI Exhaust manifolds is a step down in performance. The gain is durability and it being slightly easier to work on.
Most Y-pipes you can buy look like crap ( probably don't perform much better then they look ) . That's why I prefer to make my own by just buying the components and mandrel bent U-bends. It'll cost more but you'll have the satisfaction of doing it yourself.
Running the dual 2 1/4 to a single outlet muffler with a 2.5" tailpipe sounds like a good plan.

Thanks, Fordman, I appreciate that. I may pull and use an oem dual down pipe from an efi year just as a guide. Cheers.
love the EFI, to walker Y, to one 2.5 turbo. on the 300.
much better flow.
Did have to bend and weld a bit. filled in the 02 holes. but.. much more open than restrictive stock manifold..
