In a '99 I'd replace the whole lower control-arm/ball joint assembly together. It doesn't cost much more for the control-arm with a new ball joint already installed, than buying just a ball joint and going to the trouble of pressing out the old and pressing in the new. Then you still have worn out lower control-arm bushings to deal with. Takes less of your time to replace the whole assembly too. The replacement Moog ball joints are greasable too.

Yep, that's the approach I'll be taking on my '05 as well, just replace the whole assembly with new bushings and all from Moog, then it will likely last as long as the truck itself if you grease it at every oil change or so.
