engine oil
Welcome to the forum.
I run Motorcraft oil since it is a synthetic blend and honestly have no intention of using anything else. How can you not trust an oil that is recommended by the manufacturer?

Another vote for this. My local walmart sells it too at a reasonable price.
I'm using Royal Purple HPS in my 5.0. I am sending in samples for analysis and it can last longer than 12K miles at each change interval so far. HPS has extra anti wear additives (zinc & phosphorus) that aren't in most or all over the counter oils. It can possibly poison a catalyst over time so don't use it if you are subject to regular emissions testing. In that case just use the regular HP.

Even though MotorCraft oil is synthetic blend, it's great. No matter what though, use MotorCraft filter! I'm crazy. I use full synthetic. I figure I'll give'er the best blood I can running through her veins and other pipes. Wha' the _______, hey a high dollar truck, a bit more for synthetic, I'm gonna do it.
LOL... Ask 10 people about oil, get 11 answers. Can't beat MC, but any properly spec'ed oil in the correct grade will do the job nicely if changed at the proper interval. The EcoBoost is a little more finicky because of being a direct injected engine however.
You can go with extended OCIs if you monitor by sending samples to a lab and run high-quality syns. I knew guys running almost 20k on oil with bypass filtering and good syn with lots of additives in their PowerStokes. I think doing that on these engines is overkill though. Those engines held 15-16 quarts where these hold 6-8 quarts. That's a lot of trouble for a gallon or two of oil. Easier just to change it and be done IMHO.

I go to a mechanic I've had for years; he's very honest and they have all the latest technology; road force balancers, ASE mechanics, the latest computer diagnostics, etc. You get assigned a specific mechanic who always works on your vehicle. They have done nothing but oil changes and tire rotations on this truck thus far (Ford did the first 2 however as they were free with the purchase). Nonetheless, I use Motorcraft filter and Royal Purple Synthetic (I ask for the MC filter special but they carry Royal Purple in stock). Of course the dealer will do any warrantee work should i ever need any; I purchased the extended warrantee.
I bring it to the dealer while under warranty, they use 5w20 Motorcraft with Motorcraft filter. wgen extended warranty is up it will get the same product in the form of a driveway oil change.
I use any any name-brand 5w20 that is on sale, (CASTROL, VALVOLINE, MOTORCRAFT & others) and change it every 5000 km or 3 months. Never got excited about synthetic, never had any issues with "plain" oil and I keep my trucks around 5 or 6 years.
Kept in touch with my truck buyers who followed this same regimen and they are still going strong 10 years later so why pay more?
