There can be issues that would flag a code during the Key On Engine Off tests or stored codes without triggering a Check Engine Light. Best advice is run the KOEO tests and stored code display.

Like stated tune it up and set timing. Timing will kill power quickly yet run and sound great without a load. Maybe do a compression test while you have your plugs out. My 460 is tired buildin a new one to swap out.

I hope mine's not tired yet. I've only got 103k on it. I just spent $1600 on the new exhaust with installation. About $9k invested altogether. I have all the tune-up goodies ordered and should be able to install everything tomorrow. I cut off the horns on the intake yesterday. Hopefully I will notice a difference with that done. Will let you know how it all goes after tune-up. Thanks for the help!

Yep, that's why I mentioned it. My 351 sounded and ran great... til it got hot out (which can reduce power on it's own) and I was trying to climb a bridge doing 70 in overdrive with no load. 351 with 3.55 gears. Not the greatest combo (especially turning an E4OD) but something was seriously wrong because I had the pedal mashed to the floor just trying to maintain 70 unloaded with the a/c on. Tried to tow ~5k one day and the truck felt like it had a wimpy isuzu 4 banger instead of a 351. Checked timing and found it WAY off... set it to 11 degrees (factory spec is 10) and now she pulls GREAT! Not as good as my old 460 F250 with 4.10 gears, but it's a major improvement.
