i was given a 69 f-250 flatbed for free just had to go get it,the only two problems i have had was no tranny and the engine is a straight six 300 out of a 91. they took the old tranny out because it wouldn't shift and decided it was a bad tranny so they scrapped the tranny and then lost intersest, they were nice enough to buy a new heavy duty clutch but never installed, the only thing wrong with the old clutch was the pilot brg was bad i replaced that and got a 4 spd manual from pull and save for 55 bucks and it works then i found out there is no spot for a fuel pump so i had to buy a electric. they had put the old carb and exhaust on but couldn't figure out the carb linkage that's all fixed now now just the blower fan that died and the truck overheats after a few minutes and i want to upgrade the alternator to one out of a tarus. i changed the thermostat and the water pump and the radiator has two outlets on the bottom one side is blocked off and a hose is going to the passenger side on top and bottom.what a pain. i have a rebuilt 1 bbl carb if anyone wants it. i was thinking about putting a 360 back in it. i think that was the original.
If you go back to a 360 you'll be lucky to get 11 mpg where as the 300 will or should get around 16+- depends how you drive it..
