Towing:7.3 Vs 6.7

My 7.3 caught on fire on a road trip and had to rent a 6.7 to get my 14000lbs a crap home.
Night and day difference. That 6.7 spanks my 7.3. Looks like I may need to upgrade.

Sorry your 7.3 caught fire...those are some great trucks. There's more than you think here that have owned both (myself included). The 6.7 is a beast towing and even a built 7.3 doesn't compare. The 6.7's just love to pull.

Was the 7.3 totaled? If so make sure you get it's pre-fire resale value NOT 'book' value.

If you can upgrade to a 6.7L, you certainly won't be disappointed in both pulling power and ride quality of these newer generation trucks.

There is a learning curve with the emissions and maintance but the 6.7 is hands down a towing beast.

Glad you liked the 6.7. I love mine. In all honesty though, a 7.3 was seriously under powered when compared to a 6.0 or 6.4 let alone the 6.7. The diff. was the simplicity of the 7.3.

On the other hand, if you can delete the emissions crap you are looking at the same maintenance with a far superior truck. My poor 7.3 just sits in the carport neglected since the 6.7 is so much better to drive.

Wont know for a few more days if its totaled. The stealerships 7.3 tech is on vacation and I told them I could wait and I don't want anyone but him to look at it.

Ill fight them to get market value if its totaled. Then Ill fight to get some of my money back for all the mods she has.

If they do total it ill probably buy it back. Sell it in ABQ or tow it back to Denver and sell or fix and sell.

Sorry to hear about the 7.3. Was the fire located near the firewall? I own a 7.3L 4X4 Excursion as my daily driver and my '13 6.7 for heavy duty hauling that it does remarkably well. No comparison in the capabilities of the engines. As Scott said, the 6.7 is a BEAST!!!!
