I swapped to the SPD Y-pipe and did not hear any flutter or any odd noise from the exhaust. I don`t know what the "flutter" was that they were trying to minimize, but it is not there for me.
Even a "crush" bend made y-pipe is way better than the stock one!!! Mine doesn't look as beautiful as others, but was cheap, and works!! Going on 2 yrs old with no problems or "flutter"!!!
I'm going to do the Banks headers on my rig (in 15 years when I have the money) eventually but in the mean time I want to get rid of that damn OEM "Y"-pipe. Is there a special reason to get the kit from 5star and have it welded in or can I just get a muffler shop to fab me one up? Is it a cost thing or a quality thing?
Hey Apoc, I've got a bad horse warming gift for you if you are interested, a set of Borla headers and y-pipe. They have had some cracks and a hole welded/repaired but I am sure a good welder (stainless steel) could take a close look at them and fix any bad welds before you install them. You just have to pay the shipping. PM me with your phone number if you want em. I will try to post some pictures for you later.

DONE! If I can get them fixed soon(ish) I might just hold off on installing the y pipe and pass it on to another member here!
That would be the best option really if he has the time. I still need to buyu a zerk from him and it would save on shipping to have him toss it in the box and ship them together
That looks like it needs some love with a die grinder and some filler material. I would love to see how that looks after a really good welder got a hold of it!
