Got a little issue that hopefully doesn't get a big one. On an 04 f250 6.0. The front right wheel is stuck in 4wd. I tried going in reverse that didn't help took hubs out and greased them that didn't help. Not really sure where else to look. 4wd works fine but that tire doesn't wanna come out of 4wd. Any ideas?
I think the '04 SuperDuties use vacuum to disengage the automatic hubs, not reversing direction like the '80s - '90s auto hubs. So it's probably worth chasing vacuum lines and seeing if you've got any leaks or blockages.
The other possibility (probability?) is that it's just froze up. I was told that it's not uncommon for that to happen. I don't know if that's true otr not, but both of the vacuum-operated auto hubs on my '02 F-350 were permanently engaged.
Now I did find a busted vacuum line a while ago and I fixed it. I did the whole defrost vent trick and all that seems to work fine now. I've read a lot about switching to warn hubs. Any idea how to unfreeze the hub?
Is is just a matter of swapping hubs on Super Duty? I was kind of thinking that you needed to go the whole expensive unit bearing route on them (but I could easily be wrong about that).
Well I got that issue figured out... Now another. A while ago I replaced the PS gearbox. Now my brakes will start off fine but the more I use them as I drive they start locking up. Please help I can't figure it out.
it is possible the rubber line going from the frame to the axle is starting to separate holding pressure.
then when the truck sets for a while, it slowly releases the pressure and releases the brakes.
i doubt both rear calipers went bad at the same time, but it could happen.
I just replaced both rear calipers a little over a year ago... Its not the master or the hydro? I hope your right. Sounds a lot cheaper. Also the abs light use to be on but it was never regular. And its not on anymore.
from the frame in the back of the truck down to the axle.
re-manufactured calipers are crap anymore. especially the ones with metal pistons.
i only use new calipers with phenolic pistons these days.
