Looks like a Gabriel Max Control Monotube Shock, somebody rearranged the letters to spell AMX.

I got it and that was about 43K miles ago.

Thanks

I was thinking it was some sports equipment.

I would take the lower bolt loose at lease and see if they are any good.

Looks to be the front left lol.

Have they been riding bad? Being you already have them seems you could tell us if they have been decent or rider like a brick.

Yes left front.

Been getting what sounds like a shock squeak. Have not gone
and ruled out the bushings in the front yet but the same shocks
are in the rear and a get a bad bunny hop and oscillation going
over speed bumps. Have not tried is with a heavy load on yet.

But seems over bouncy.

If your getting the extra bounce and the rocking horse then they are too soft of a shock either because they started life that way or the more likely explanation is they are worn out. Shocks are one of those things that wear out so slowly it's hard to realize how bad they are until you get new ones.

I had a set of Gabriel adjustable E's on a Bronco. Good shock.

If I had over 43000 miles on shocks, I'd get new ones. But I've never gone more than 40000 miles on a set of shocks. My truck only has 19000 miles and I have already put new 5100's on.

The local 4X4 shop here thinks I would be happy with a set from Fox.
I am on the fence about that move. But your right they are old and
I also think it's time. The what brand is the question. I do 90% of
my driving on the pavement. But id you have seen some of the pavement
here at times I think a dirt road way out in the woods would have less holes.

And they still want more gas tax money to blow of who knows what.

Replacements I would look at Bilstein 5100's, Rancho 7000's or possibly Rancho 9000's. The 9000's are probably the most expensive of them though. I have the 5100's and they were a remarkable difference from the blown shocks that were on it.
