Hey Guys! We're stopped for the night in Missoula, MT. Another 315 miles to complete our trip.
The Ex has been running fantastic for me with the exception of cruise control disengaging 4-5x. At first I thought maybe I hit the steering wheel button shifting around in the seat. After a few occurrences I noticed it would switch off on steep inclines.
Any thoughts?
P.S. - I didn't search because, well, cheaply wifi and using cell phone.
Normal reaction when the engine begins to lug down. YOU JUST FOUND THE ONLY down side to your GV overdrive unit. I was looking at the RPMs you posted the other day ( 1450 @ 75 Just a example not actual #'s) HELL I almost idle at that

Hey harley4jcs,
The odd thing is I've never had that happen before and I've made this same drive twice in the last 6 months.
It makes me reconsider using cruise control when I'm in the mountains.
I suppose that makes sense. Is there any danger to the engine and/or transmission when this occurs? Anything I can do to prevent the engine lug? Should I be turning off the GVOD when headed up the larger mountain passes?
Wonder if I should just call GV and see what they suggest for mountainous driving conditions.
The cruise is designed to disengage when the vehicle loses 10 MPH from the setpoint. If you set it at 65 MPH and the grade causes you to slow to 55 MPH the cruise will turn itself off.
You should turn off the additional overdrive anytime it can't maintain the set speed.
