2006 box with 2008+ tailgate

2006 box with 2008+ tailgate
I have put a new style tailgate on my 2006 truck with the step. The beige color of the bed cap is different between the old box and the new tailgate. Will the bed cap for the newer boxes fit on my 2006 box? That would seem like the easiest fix.

The only thing different between the early and late beds (as far as cap fitment goes) is the shape of the upper tailgate. So the cap either has to be for the year of the tailgate, or some cap manufacturers have a conversion piece that you can get. The rest of the bed dimensions will be the same.

Around here, the old-timers call a topper a "cap." The information I gave you was me assuming you were asking about a topper.
You're talking about the plastic on top of the bed rails, right? In that case, I'm pretty sure it's a direct replacement.

So you either have a king ranch or the gate is from a king ranch. That's I believe the only time I've seen the beige caps. Or are they just faded different?
