So my speedo is stuck on 0 and the truck shifts really hard I replaced the VSS on the rear end so is it the MLPS really need some help cause I'm at a loss on what else it could be thanks its a 1994 ford f150 with the 5.0
the trans is blind to the vehicles speed.it hasn't got a clue which gear to provide without this vital information.so without a working speedometer, the trans can't function correctly.
like Mark pointed out,it could be the wiring the the vss or the PSOM.however before doing too much (since it just sits on 0 mph doing nothing) be sure to check the fuses.for example if the dome light fuse blows the speedo doesn't work.look through your owners manual and you'll see a couple speedo fuses to inspect firstly.iirc the one on with the dome light is for memory and it kinda works when blown but then there is another just for it.you'll see.if the interior dome light works, find the main one and inspect that.
edit, yeah ok so iv got a manual right here.
fuse 8 speedo mem (on with dome light.so if light works, this fuse is ok.)
fuse 18 speedo (also on with electric shift for t-case which only f150's like yours have if you have a 4wd.optional anyway.so if you have push button 4wd,and that's not working, odds are this fuse is blown, and would explain the dead speedo.)
Right but I thought there was one on the transmission to sorry so what could be making the transmission shift so hard?
On the trans, there is an input shaft speed sensor and an output speed sensor. If one of those was not working, you would have codes pertaining to them, weather it would cause hard shifts. i dunno..

Cool thanks man I'm going to be looking at the fuses tonight

incorrect information.i believe your thinking about the '99+ 4R100 that came along latter.with his '95 E4OD,the only speed sensor is located on the rear axle.

My prediction is that it was an easy fix, but won't last. A fuse doesn't wear out, something caused it to blow. If you haven't found and fixed that problem it's going to happen again.
yeah good point Mark.i suppose what i would do in that case then, would be to pull my door jam switch and inspect that and it's wires right there, and then pull the interior dome light and inspect for any bare wires that got chafed on the metal in there and or even the dome light itself and of course the vss lines.
least he knows it's for sure this circuit and knows right where to inspect next time if she blows the fuse again or better still, checks things over now at least for anything obvious and address it if spotted.
