Quick (factory) radio question

My 2000 Ex has the factory AM/FM/CD/Cassette stereo, as well as middle row controls. Would this stereo be plug-and-play in my '99 Super Duty, even though it doesn't have rear controls and two less speakers?

I'd rather have the Alpine in the Ex, and since the Super is more-or-less a work truck, the factory unit would be fine if it is compatible.

The radios are the same old 4 channel units. The rears are just split at the panel in the Ex.

Done! The Excursion's old factory stereo now lives in the Super Duty. Took me all of 5 minutes!

Just out of curiosity, the Ex had two wiring plugs that plugged into the radio, where the Super had only one. What is the extra plug on the Ex for? Rear controls?

Next step will be to pick the 4 best factory speakers from the Ex and swap them for the Pioneers in the truck...

Rear/Steering controls and optional rear entertainment systems or CD changers. All primary radio stuff, power/speakers/lights is in the main plug. As for the speakers, unless you plan on gutting the interior, just pull the front four.

*Sidenote, the rear channel amps in the Ford head unit are 2 ohm stable and a higher output than the front. This allowed the rear channels to be split easily in the Ex and the Vans. You may notice that the rear 4 speakers sound "weaker" as the Alpine does not have 2ohm stable amps. To correct this you can delete the rearmost speakers or add extra amplifiers. Or just run it and not worry about it, like I do.
