I'm asking here because the WTB area wouldn't let me post.
I have a 1978 F-150 300ci "Three on the tree" with a bad transmission.
Looking for a replacement trans.
I have a one piece drive shaft. I believe these tranny's were only in 78 to 85?
Cheers,
Joe
Hollander says that in 1978 the F-150 could have had one of four possible 3 speed manual transmissions. There were two different case lengths, each of which could have had two different extension lengths. The 9-1/4" case was called light duty, while the 9-3/4" case was called medium duty.
I don't know where you are from but if you are close to south east Texas, I have the three speed I pulled from my 76. I pulled it to swap in a five speed. I normally make a run to the scrap yard once a month but I hate to junk good parts so this one is sitting around taking up space. If you can pick it up its yours.

Where do I measure this? Is this the length of the trans minus the bell-housing & tail shaft?
Cheers
I am assuming that is correct. If you measure yours and it agrees with one of the numbers we will know for certain. If you also measure the tail shaft I can provide the interchanges shown.
