Knife Pics
As for the actual topic my daily carry is a Kershaw Speed Bump. This is an internet pic but it looks a lot like this but sharper I put on a Scandinavian edge, and of course more beat up from daily use.
They are what Kershaw refers to as "Speedsafe" I think Ken Onion of Kershaw started/invented it but it's rather popular now. They have a spring assisted opening but no button, you start it by pushing on the back of the blade(the tang sticking out with the two holes) or giving it a little whip motion. Thus they fall into a grey area in the law, spring assisted but legal in most States with laws against switchblades.
A very unique feature is the cam lock/thumb stud lock mechanism. It makes for a very secure blade lock that can easily be closed with either hand WITHOUT putting a finger in the path of the blade. I've yet to find another knife, even from Kershaw with such a fantastic blade lock, I have no idea why it isn't more popular.
I find the blade curve very useful, the outer section being flat functions a lot like the front edge of a tanto, the middle kind of like a skinning knife, and the convex section is fantastic for things like rope and cuts where you can first penetrate, like leather. EDIT, The convex section is a pain in the **** to sharpen though, but it stays sharp like serrated blades cause the convex section rarely contacts surfaces not being cut. I carry a ceramic "steel" that does a good job in general keeping an edge and is by far the best way to keep the convex sharp.
I dig the knife so much I own 6 of them. For the most part whenever I find a deal on one I buy it. Kershaw stopped making them, but for the moment they still support them as far as spare parts and replacement blades go.
I dig Kershaw as a company as well, I got my first Speedbump for free from them. I had a couple of Leeks(another model) that I broke. When I called trying to buy a couple replacement blades they said they'd replace the entire knives for free, I said I liked this new model, so they sent me that and another leek. Later the internal spring broke, as they do from wear, I asked them to send me one, they sent me 10 for free, fantastic.
EDIT2, I forgot to mention the lock, cause well I removed it from all of mine. It comes with a little sliding pin blade lock to lock the blade closed. Works fine, I just find it unnecessary and every once it a while it would kinda lock on it's own while in my pocket which I found annoying cause for me being able to put it to use fast is key. So when I take them apart to oil, swap parts etc(in part why I have 6) I don't put the lock back in.
Of my 6 I have 3 different handle styles and blades in various states of wear, damage, and edge. So I tend to mix and match parts between the 6.

The pictures are 'stock' photos.
One is a Case "Medium Stockman" that my Dad gave me, many years ago.
I do not leave the house without this knife.

The second is actually a replacement knife.
Benchmade "Mini AFCK". I lost the first one at a local Home Depot store, when my first Mini AFCK and keyring became attached.
I didn't realize the knife was gone, until I got home.
I have the non-serrated version.

The one I currently carry, is the last one that I have.
I found one at a local gunshow, and when I saw the price, I HAD to buy another one! (This knife has now been discontinued.)
