The OP asked about the programmers for the 5.0. There was no indication of the OP's other vehicle information. Most of the responses seem to have morphed over to the EB.

I used to have a Diablo tuner for a 6.0 diesel F250 and I was pleased with it.

Any more 5.0 owners similar to mine with a 5 star product? I get off-road occasionally and pull light 4'8' utility trailer and 18' aluminum boat/trailer. I am looking for improved low end performance and improved mileage.

The stock 5.0 seems a little under tuned.

I have pretty well made up my mind to get a programmer/tune for mine. Those with the SCT X4 seem to be split between 5 Star and SSI. SSi seems to be about $75 more. Are the SSI custom tunes that much better?

Has anyone tried some of the other products like Diablo?

I recently bought a 2010 5.4 with 120K miles on it. The truck has been treated well and is in perfect mechanical condition but is it OK to load some of Mike's tunes on a higher mileage vehicle?

My first question would be have you done a really thorough tune up if so then I don't see why not but I am surely not the final answer. Good Luck

While I have not done a tuneup myself, all the service is up to date and has been documented through the ford dealer up to this point.

Another question, what about E85 tunes? This is my first gas vehicle with EFI, let alone one that will run on E85, lol.

I have a 2014 F150 5.0 and i went with 5 Star...i have the 87 tow/performance / 87 economy and 89 tow/performance... i just bought it about a month ago and the throttle response is amazing and the gas mileage went from 18.2 to 17.9, and most of that because it's hard to keep your foot out of it...very responsive off the line now and the gears shift a tad later and its a smooth shift all the way through...I don't get lug when going over 40 now, as it used to go into 6th gear and now it's 4th or 5th at the higher end of 40 + mph...I connected my 22' 4,250 lb camper trailor to it last week for the first time and went on a 4 hour trip in colorado to the 10,000 foot mountains in Steamboat Springs, i went over 2 high passes and had absolutely no trouble with power...i rolled it over the passes at 60 - 70 mph...so no worries there...5 Star is working out great !

Just got the programmer set up last night, took it for a ride and noticed instantly how the throttle response is amazing and the shifting was fast. Really impressed.
Question for others owning one

whats the procedure you use for switching tunes?

Thanks

can anyone quantify their experience...meaning the 5star 91 performance tune adds 30hp and cut my 0-60 by .5...something along those lines? Just trying to get a feeling of what the tunes really add.
