the 5 star drastically improves shifting and reduces turbo lag and power under pressure (boost) but the SSI 87 tune doesn't require high octane gas and the throttle response is instant, I felt it just pulling the truck out of the garage. when I punched it had even more power under boost and I didn't think it would be possible to have any major improvements over 5 star but there was. even the shift was better. I liked the better performance without having to pay for premium gas. I only use my x4 for tuning and then put it away. I have an 8 inch android head unit so I use Torque Pro app for custom gauges etc.
All custom tuners seem to have better results than the canned SCT tunes you get with the programmer unit. I have tried other tuners (but not 5 star specifically), and the SSi tunes are hands-down the fastest, most drivable and smoothest shifting (even better than stock) of all for my 2014 EB truck. This thing is a blast to drive. No need to try anything else for my needs. I don't go to the track nor do I tow, just a daily driver for me. SSi is working on the tunes for the 2015 truck - just give them time. Nice thing about these programmer units if you can try several tuners out and see which suits you best. You know which one I chose after spending some $$ trying them out....
Running the 91 performance right now ( 5 star), plenty of power. I'm leaving rubber all over town. I like the tune as the shifting is very smooth. Not sure I need more then this, but that's just me.

Been reading about SSI the last couple of days and I have to say there are a lot of of people complaining about issues and customer service......
I contacted them 2 days ago requesting info about their Tues and have yet to receive a response. Something to think about.
I think I'll sit tight.

I tried joining the forum but haven't received the email confirmation. (Not even in my junk or bulk mail) So I just gave up.

I don't judge someone by the opinion of others, especially on the Internet. Reading all the history led me to call the owner & talk to him directly. He's a no b.s. guy for sure, and I'm glad I found his tunes for my truck. Not everyone sees it that way & that's ok too.

I would agree with you on this but I received this email from him AFTER he saw my post, at first I said he is just stressed out a bit but after a couple of days stewing over it I'm done before it even started. This is not the way to talk to customers. period.
and I'm not a big fan of the "everyone's tunes suck but mine" when you are that good there is not need to cut everyone else down, its just bad business.
Rant over.
Thanks for the inquiry. I saw a post of yours about customer service and want to make some things clear. First thing is this mail box is a general mailbox an is checked once a day usually maybe every other day. The second thing is that some software updates from SCT had not gone well in the last few weeks as well as some mistakes with templates which made life frustrating to say the least. I took my complete undivided attention. When I have to go thru what I just did and dig and dig thru software issues this take time as well as uninterrupted concentration. The health, performance, and safety of any given vehicle are priority one for me. Impatience on a customers part will never be a priority nor do I want that customer. Dealing with the general public can be a nightmare and there are many customers I dont want. Our tunes speak for them selves and are head and shoulders above anyone else out there. This isnt me just spouting off as every customer tells me the same thing since day 1 that has had most tunes. There is also a reason why people come to us from other tuners and it doesnt go the other way. We are our own competition.
That all being said there are ******* trolls out there spouting and spreading bs such as my customer service which I despise. Go look at our forum at www.f150ecotuning.com and you will find out about my customer service. Go to the source and not internet gossip.
As far as your 2015 goes the tunes aren't released yet due to what I stated above. They are close but not up to our standard. We supply excellence and only excellence and do things right. Fast is hardly ever right or good. I have many people waiting on them as every other 2015 tune being put out right now is ****ty. We dont put out ****. When there is only oatmeal to eat and you never tried steak, oatmeal may be the best thing in someones mind. We serve up steak only.
One thing you should know is Im very direct, dont BS people, and hit the nail on the head. Ive been doing this a very long time and after well over 15,000 F150 Eco tunes I dont think many people know this platform like us.
If you are still interested in a tune for yours you should be paying attention to our forums to have your hand on the pulse of what is going on, whats happening now, and what is new. You can also pick up the phone and call anytime.
KingRanch that is a sharp looking truck. At a quick glance it looks like my '10 What is that color called? Mine is/was Royal Red, and I've tried getting touch up paint for it at the parts stores but my color isn't even listed any more. I like it as it's not a common color but what happened to my color? It just vanished

Ruby Red Metallic with tinted clear coat. They charged me extra for it. First coat of wax today.
Well I can see what Shawn is trying to say...he may not convey it in the best fashion from seeing that email. It reads to me like he definitely does not want to rush and get a tune for the new truck without fully testing it and making sure that it works. I would expect that a tune that I buy to work and not be a "work in progress".
I am someone that does a lot of research before I buy things and that includes going to forums and seeing what people are saying, and not just the forums dedicated to SSI. In the end King Ranch if you are happy with your 5 Star tune that is all that matters.
