the cab lights on my truck are out and im missing one lens so i ordered a new set and am planning on redoing them all but i was thinking about buying some spray tint and making them smoked or blacked out lights. is this a good idea? bad one? will it turn out very well? any suggestions appreciated
FYI, you can order the lenses already tinted. But to answer your question, yes you can spray them with tint spray and they will turn out just fine. Google it and I'm sure you'll find plenty of pictures.
alright thats good, thanks and i had a hard time finding tinted ones in the style i wanted but also i figured this way i can get them exactly how dark i want them.
Think about the reason trucks have cab lights. It's so other drivers can see you further off, esp. on hills. So tint one of your existing lights, and mount it along with one of the untinted lights, and turn them on. Then walk (or take another vehicle) down the road a ways, esp. if you can do it on a hilly stretch, and compare the visibility of the one vs. the other. If you're satisfied that the light output of the tinted one is sufficient, go for it. If not, don't. Personally, I wouldn't do anything to my exterior lighting that would compromise them functionally. Maybe the tinting won't compromise them.
I masked the orange lense off.
then based the base flange black wntil covered.
unmasked it and tinted the whole thing.
my big issue is the commercial tint in a can is flat. I dont like that much.
thanks for the tips, i think when i get mine im going to paint the bases black and then tint the lenses and replace the regular bulbs with led's. pretty excited to get this done
These are all the ones they offer that are amber and 360* I think the one in my pic is one of the clear bulbs I had in there. I just took a pic so I could match it up with a amber bulb.

Do you know which of thos bulbs they offer you went with? Or which is the better option?
