Truck is a 1948ish, originally a 6 cylinder.
I'm trying to move the radiator support to the 'V8' spot.
So I loosely installed the bolts holding the rear of the inner fenders on, and tried to install the fronts. Well, they are 2" away. It might take a bit of prying and forcing to get the holes closer.
Is this normal? I remember them giving me some trouble taking them off, but nothing like this.
This normal, or am I doing something wrong?
Anybody have any tips?
Also, which way does the support get installed;
With the hand crank bracket towards the grill? Or closer to the pulley?
crank bracket goes to the front. looks to me like you have the bolts that hold the core support in the wrong place - they should be in the bottom of the support, not in the crank bracket.
you can gain a little extra clearance if you put the core support in reversed.
Ah, well whichever way, I needed more room, so I put it in the front most holes.
I like the idea of flipping the core support backwards, but I fear my upper radiator hose spout will end into that support bracket.

That should not happen. The upper radiator hoses are far above that cross brace as you can see from the pictures below. The problem is that if you use an electric fan you will need to mount it in front of the radiator and then reverse the fan polarity so that it is a pusher and not a puller. If you don't use an electric fan then you will probably have some interference with the engine mounted fan. Then there is the problem of mounting the fan shroud with the brace running through the middle of it.
