Blue-tification projects!
I finally had a day that I didn't need to be anywhre and so spent it on some beautification projects that Blue had been wanting for a while now. I repainted my dash bezel, put on some driprail chrome from a Ranger, and finally (FINALLY!) got that UGLY old dash pad off! It looks so good! I'm pretty pleased with the dash bezel. It still needs some touching up, but its not bad. I'm just crazy pleased with the painted dash- it looks sharp! It has a couple rust spots (moisture through the cracked dash no doubt ) and a bad spot between where the pad was and the windshield, but thats ok, I wanted to get the interior painted anyway. I threw some pics up to show him off. You can see 'em here

I'll put them on my user gallery here when I have more time

There have been several threads on the metal dash look. I think here are a dozen or so nuts to remove. You have to take your instrument panel out and a couple of other pieces but it's a pretty easy job - maybe a couple of hours to get that new looking shiny dash. Anyhow, I have one or two photos of mine in my gallery.
Also, I noticed that we're doing another collective buy (sort of) of the replacement dashes. They are pricey but sure would be nice.

Padded dashboards were one of the first safety features on cars and for a real good reason. Looks have nothing to do with it. Hope none of you or your passengers has to go through the trouble of rediscovering that reason. Most of you would probably call me old, but I do remember when people thought padded dashes were the about the smartest thing to come down the pike. They still are. People have just forgotten or never learned the harm that metal dashes used to cause. Dashes are still padded to this day and a front airbag is just more padding. Y'all can say whatever you want (and I know you will), but if you take it out and drive around that way I think you're competing for a Darwin Award. It might be polite to ask your passengers if they want to be in that competition along with you since they most likely will be the first winner. If they say they don't mind then I guess they deserve to win one.
