After having reman tranny installed the truck has been dropping out of OD on an intermittent basis. Now it is getting to be more frequent and I am going to run the AE on it during use. The problem is most prevalent at first gallop but can take longer to show up. I drop into neutral and a few revs then back into gear seems to resolve the problem until next start up. Also any stop and change of gear seems to stop it as well. And it throws no codes.
1) Any ideas on what the problem might be?
2) What stuff should I monitor with the AE?
It could be a failing TRS (Transmission Range Sensor.)
With the AE look at commanded gear and gear ratio. If commanded gear changes before gear ratio then the PCM is telling the trans to shift. Also look at PRNDL to see if the PCM is getting bad info from the TRS.
OK, I couldn't figure out what PRNDL is or gear ratio and commanded gear. It looks more like the torque converter is unlocking in OD. I tried to post the session but was not able make it happen.
