HUH?????
i have absolutly no idea what you are trying to say.
I took that post down because you are right, forget it. The post goes back to a thread months ago where Pocket was saying you can
get a 300 HP gas RPM spinner motor to pull like a semi engine of 300 HP
It's a subject I need to talk to a engineer who designs electric motors to settle it in my mind.
I can get a shop down the road to do it for 450 but the R n D guy is supposed to be the best ?
Honestly, it's all in what happens when the shop "rebuilds" it. If it's just seals and a flow test, forget it. You could do that yourself for about $100 in parts and a weekend full of headache. The reputable shops actually replace the plunger and the hard internal parts. Myself, I've only heard of 3 or 4 good shops. The locals are hit and miss. Some are good, some aren't. You just have to ask them what all they will do to your pump if they do rebuild it. And see if they have a timing meter, just for fun. If he says he can do it "by ear", well, maybe he can, but no one has ever gotten lucky enough to hit 9.5* on the button just by listening to the engine idle.
it is all in the maintenance.
my 88 7.3 has a little over 494,000 miles on it, and i would not hesitate to take it on a cross country run if the 02 went down.
as a matter of fact, i actually trust the 88 for long distance driving over the 02, because if something happens i can fix it on the road with minimal tools. the 02 is all computerized, so if it dies on the road i am screwed.
