Nobody makes these that fit our body style. Has anybody retrofitted bars from another vehicle? I am curious what is out there and looking for pics with info on what vehicle they came off of. Specifically something that is frame mounted.
Would like to get rid of the hoops and find a set of chrome or stainless bars in the junkyard or order new.
My buddy put a set of DeeZee's on his 79 F250 4x4 RC (lifted). They came off a 96 F250 or 350 RC. Got them at a JY. IIRC, they were stainless w/the brackets but I can't remember if he had to do any fab work to make them fit. He sold the truck a few years ago. They looked like the one's in your first post!
Not exactly like the ones you linked. On mine the frame brackets have a tube that goes right into the curved end, and they are adjustable for with with a nut and bolt. If that makes any sense. "universal fit" They were on the truck when I bought it. I'm not crazy about them but they're not bad.
I would first look at the nerf bars spec'ed for 80-96 F-series and adapt from there. It'll probably be closer in terms of fit, appearance, and bracketry.
IIRC, you'll have a choice of just a bar along the cab or from wheel well to wheel well.
Post up a well-documented how-to (PNs, pics, detailed descriptions) and maybe it'll get memorialized in the Tech Info Compilation.
I found a set in the junkyard on an early 90s truck. They mount to the front body mount and seat belt bolt with another bracket on the rear to the frame. Doesn't look like it would work without a lot of mods, plus frame width is different.
