Hows it going guys before i spend the money I need help with the objective of re gearing my truck. I have been doing the research for months and my main goal is to get more power out of my truck. I love my truck but it just feels like it laggs. its a 2000 F250 5.4 I am thinking about 4.56 and i have 33s on it now. i just want to know if i am going to notice a difference in power at all. other upgrades are cold air, edge programer, and full exhaust system.... Please let me know what you think. Thank you much.
I have 4.10's and wish I had 4.56 with stock tires. Stock tires are 32 inch I think or close to 33....I would say go with 4.56 and I think you'll be happy...Should give you about 500 rpm more at highway speeds.

Thank you! Do you think I will have the power I want. and feel it more?
Well power comes at a price with gearing.. You still want to be able to cruise down the highway without reving to the hilt in od...I think a 500 rpm gain would be about the max you should go unless you spend all your time offroad and pulling..Thats my opinion...going to 4.88 would be scarey...Since I have 4.11 and power sucks 4.30's are out of the question. So your only real choice is 4.56...Done
I would say 4:56 and a tuner from mike@5star. The tuner would give you more throttle response since its a drive by wire system. Mike can also custom tune to your exact wants and needs and change the way the trans shifts, it just makes the truck quicker. save your money on cold air intakes, if you want a better sound just change out the muffler the rest of the exhaust system is fine.
Went from 3:73 to 4:30 and made a big difference....am sure 4:56 would do the job for you.
CPaulsen, I just made an appointment to have 4.30 gears installed on my truck. My truck is running stock tires and no lift. How is the performance with your truck and those gears? Has your towing mileage gone up that you have noticed? How's your pulling on hills? I have a 28' bumper pull camper, and it just seems like any hills it falls flat on it face. I just don't know if 4.30's are good or going to a 4.56. I don't tow a lot so I am trying to keep my truck more of a daily driver.
It seems like most go with the 4.56, but I think 4.30 would be a good compromise.
