Abs light troubleshooting
and all has been good. We have had a very tough winter, one day after I kinda backed into a soft snowbank, and the light was back on. It was so cold and snowy for so long, my thought was that some snow/ice was interfering with the sensor, and that when things warmed up and thawed out it would go away. We have had some good thaws, and it is still on. I did a visual inspection of the tone rings, the fronts appear good and what I can see of the rears showed no cracks, although on the rear it is hard to see the whole ring at once unless you pull things apart. SO.. my question is, is there a good troubleshooting procedure to ut my finger on exactly what is causing this? Any and all advice appreciated!
Well after much GOOGLING and wondering why there is so little info about it, and my HAYNES manual just refers me to bring it to a garage for anything ABS-related, it seems that Autozone is forbidden from giving ABS/AIRBAG codes out, the Govt and MFG'ers discourage it. SO the same OBDII port is used as for normal engine fault codes, but a special reader is used that reveal the ABS faults. Consider myself educated. I will probably wait until I am forced to bring to the garage for something else, and have them deal with it if I don't upgrade vehicles after the winter is done, look like at least $150 for an ABS code reader...
