This "stuffing" will deaden the sound made from the sub. This stops all resonating from the box and improves sound quality.

Exactly. It slows down the soundwaves inside the box. Helps stop the boomy resonating. Right on Serving_time.

Hmmmmm, the effectiveness of "pillow stuffing" has been hotly debated since "Polyfill" started getting people to pay $8 per pound. Adherents believe it slows the backwave down and fools the woof into thinking it's in a bigger box. Others believe poly is the biggest scam since air flight insurance

Me, I'm on the fence. I have heard boxes with it and couldn't detect a difference. Other's I've talked with say it works, but the "improvement" is minimal. Others think it's a godsend. If you were to purchase it at Walmart, where it's in the arts & crafts section under the generic name "pillow stuffing", it will only cost you like $3-$4. Since it will most likely not make the sound worse, it's a very cheap "upgrade". I just assume make the box both the correct size and properly brace it...then there will be no need for the stuffing.

I've heard one box empty and then stuffed with regular pink fiberglass and to me there was a distinct difference in bass quality with the insulated one.
