Thats sick, often getting something paint matched is the most expensive part. My mom broke off the outside mirror on her car, was so glad to find a good used one in the same color for $90. And she was about to 'just take it to the dealership'...

I was wondering, are all super duty tailgates interchangeable?

They are but you have to get a different hinge for the newer style SUPER DUTY type tailgate 08 to present.

The tailgate I chose was a 2011 unit. My truck is a 2009. The 2011 tailgate has a "trim line" that matches up with the tail lights on each side. the original 2009 tailgate does NOT have the trimline on it - just plain skin. Kinda like the new one better.

The tailgate matched perfectly and took exactly 30 seconds to install it. The newer trucks have a torsional spring in the hinge section to make it easier to close the heavier gates.

Here is a picture of the replacement tailgate. Like I said before - it took 30 seconds to install it.

Thumbs up

Bought a backup camera (in the handle style) for my 2009 F350 SDC from 'tailgatecamera.com'. Installed it today and only had a small glitch in the wiring to make it work correctly. The original 6 pin flat plug has (5) wires in the Factory Harness. They say leave the PWR Ground (Blk/Wht) wire split from the Shield (Blk) in the instructions. If you do that the camera will not turn ON in Reverse. I had to connect the Shield (Blk) & Video (-) (Brn/Vio) together to make the camera work correctly. In their instructions they say to connect to the 12v+ (Red) to the Backup Bulb circuit but when you have the Factory camera harness you use the 12v+ (Wht/Grn) in the harness. The big item here is that the Backup Bulb circuit onkly gets 12v+ when you are in 'reverse'. When you connect to the original Factory Camera harness - the 12v+ (Wht/Grn) wire is CONSTANT 12v+ when the ignition is turned ON. Be careful with this circuit and KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING!!
