I am getting two codes related to my 4r100 transmission, and I am wondering if they are maybe external fixes, or does the transmission have to come out?
P1754---CCS Solenoid circuit malfunction.
P720-----Insufficient input from output shaft speed sensor.
I bought the truck 10 years ago with 35,000 miles, it now has 98,000 miles on it.

Thanks for your help. Don
I was unable to find the P720 Code. I did find some references to the P1754:
EPC Solenoid Short Circuit
Coast clutch solenoid circuit malfunction
Circuit failure, faulty solenoid, PCM
CCS failed to provide voltage drop across Solenoid. Circuit open or shorted or PCM driver
failure during KOEO.
Failed off — no third gear engine braking in overdrive cancel.
Failed on — third gear engine braking in overdrive range.
Coast clutch may be damaged causing eventual failure.
Mark K often peruses the site and answers questions regarding Transmission Concerns.
P0720 means the PCM isn't seeing a signal from the output speed sensor (OSS.) It is located on the rearmost part of the transmission, on the top. It could be either a bad sensor or a damaged wire to the sensor. The PCM can't tell the difference.
The other one is an open or short circuit in the coast clutch solenoid circuit. Once again this is either a bad solenoid of a damaged wire to the solenoid.
Thank you: Mark & Tom for your excellent and professional replies!
I tried and failed to leave a reply on the full site with my phone. This is a shortened version just in case this one don't work.
I now know I have to take my truck to a transmission shop for the repairs, and I will have your professional opinions to show them.
Thanks again to both of you for your info it is very helpful.
