EBP SENSOR reading 0 psi. ?

So the EX is running good like normal.

Yesterday I did a 200 t Stat and while I was there I cleaned the map fitting and EBP sensor and tube for good measure. I have never monitored these readings prior. Just thought it was worth it to do it.

I decided to turn cts monitor to monitor the map psi, it idles at 14 and drives at 20 ISH, short hard accelleration I seen 40 psi.

Boost gauge sees high 20's under load

The EBP PSI is at 0 and doesn't move KOEO OR WHILE IDLING OR RUNNING*

Mine is an 05 model but 08/04 build date. Stock as far as head studs /egr intact and plugged in,etc.

I do have 4" exhaust, edge cts.

The truck is running the same, good and strong. I am doing some maintenance for better mpg.

With these readings what does it mean, what does it effect, and should it be replaced?

Replace since you allready cleaned it. Several sensors are compared by the pcm to determine fuel strategy and turbo operation[vgt]

EBP, BARO and MAP should be very close in the numbers. Baro at sea level is around 14.7. Is it reading in PSI?

Until running then map and ebp correspond to throttle demand engine rpm.
Flucuates with the engine.

I've got a new sensor coming from the dealership.

I'll post results in a few hours.

clean the tube as well, use weedwacker line or something to get the carbon out and at least open the tube up so it senses the changes

I did clean it and the old sensor as noted. That's why I wanted to see the readings.

Well see how the new sensor reacts

Thanks for all the comments guys

is it true that depending on what flash the dealership may have installed that the ECM does not utilize these readings?

Only on 03 model engines and even then the PCM "looks" at the EBP to see that it's there.

To clarify I do need it physically there and operational, correct?

I set my tuner to a stock setting for good measure.

New EBP sensor in and still 0 psi at idle and with raising rpm while parked.

I did a wiggle test while it was reading and go nothing..

To confirm, this sensor attaches at the t stat mounting area and gets its signal from a tube going to the front Dr side manifold correct?

With my build date it is more like an 04. The first sensor they sent looked the same except it had larger threads and the last number was one off. I Google that number and it showed 05+.

Why is it reading 0 psi? I do have 4" exhaust, could that effect it to read 0?

I have noticed lately quite a few post with this issue, most I noticed are reading thru a tuner device. Even with no tune loaded this seems to make a difference for some reason. Since I only use a scan tool I have no way to check other devices readings.

It might be your CTS. Do you have a scan gauge II or some other means to monitor it? Check the wires to the harness and look for any rubs. Key On Engine Off it should be a couple tenths of psi to the map/baro sensor.

Quick Reply: EBP SENSOR reading 0 psi. ?
