Razer70....Hey guys I just did a lifter job on my 88 ford econoline E-250 351-windsor engine.Ever since repair i have been blowing the seals on my oil filter only using 10-30 motor oil with fram filter .I don't think it has anything to do with the repairs i did.But since i have had van the pcv valve chatters like a rattle snake and it shouldn't. I believe that my oil pressure relief valve on oil pump is not working correctly if it was it should not be blowing my oil filter seal .Also prior to the lifter job my intake leaked oil out the rear of intake possibly not letting so much pressure build up?but i am just assuming that because it leaked there and didn't have a prob with oil pressure then, but the pcv valve chatter has always stummped me. I'm just guessing anyone here got a tip and or if you think this is my problem.Thks razer70............
how many miles on the engine? it sounds like you may have excessive "blow-by" and there is nowhere for it to go. like maybe your PCV system is plugged after the valve and the weakest link is your oil filter. have you reamed out your pcv pipes? just a thought.....
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 22-Mar-02 AT 03:43 PM (EST)]I would try and put a manual pressure gauge on and see what the oil pressure is running. When you did the lifter job maybe you got some trash in the oil system and it's plugging an oil passage causing high oil pressure down stream of the filter.I'm not sure having high crankcase pressure would cause this.I would expect you to see oil blowing into the air breather or your seals leaking. Also it's a long shot but make sure you don't have the old gasket from the oil filter stuck on there.I saw a guy forget to take the old gasket off once and it leaked oil everywere.
Razer70....How do i go about cleaning my pcv pipes. And i know there ain't two gaskets on there I always check for that when changing oil filters.I don't believe anything fell inside there i was very careful. But I do think my pcv chatter has something to do with it.That chatter has been there since i got it 2 months ago.the engine, i don't know the miles on it.But i think it's been worked on before. When running this engine runs great and makes no racket or ticking sounds. The inside of engine was super clean no sludge anywhere. cleaning pcv pipes i'm just not sure how. Any tips helpful.Thks guys.
