Looking to replace my ZF S560 manual transmission (ford part# 1c34-7003).
My question is what years are interchangeable? Did they change the bolt patterns in 2003?
My pickup is 2002
Yes, the bolt pattern changed on some trucks part way though the 2003 model year. The 6.0L has the same bolt pattern as the gas engine trucks. The 7.3L is a unique pattern.
I am new to his forum thing as all of you can tell. Probally should have included more information like vehicle is 7.3. If I am reading your reply correctly Mark transmission is the same in the 6.0 and the 7.3 but the bolt patter is different.
Pickip has over 300,000 miles on it and not willing to put $7,000 in new transmission. Have located several transmissions out of the 6.0's looking to find out if they will bolt up.
I am really bad at this. Pilot bearing went out and caused damage in transmission. Everything still works fine just a bad vibration. I assume input shaft and bearing damage. Ford repair said almost $7,000 to replace and it would cost more to rebuild. Just had them put it back together so I could explore my options. Still runs and drives fine but transmission is on its way out. Any help would be appricated
Two suggestions: Find a good used transmission, or go to a good independent shop and get a quote to fix your transmission. I'll bet a good shop could do a better job than the Ford dealer for half the cost.
And if you go the used route the trans MUST come from a 7.3L, and be the same 4x4 or 4x2.
Have anothet question regarding transmission. I have heard that there may be a fix to a damaged input shaft due to a piolot bearing failure. They way I understand it is that u use brass bushing on input shaft and an oversized pilot bearing to provide fix. Provided there is no damage in transmission. Does anyone have any experience with this?
