All but two of the V6 engines are in a single forum. What is special about the 3.0 that it has a forum all its own? Also, curious about the 4.2 V6 in the same way.
I think splitting the Duratec V6 and Vulcan V6 into seperate would be a good idea too... Might encourage more posting. I think the Duratec folks are loathe to post because the bulk of the discussion, and all of the 'sticky tips and tech info' at the top of the forum are Vulcan based.

The 3.0L Vulcan engine has been around since 1986, virtually unchanged for all intents and purposes. It has been used in the Ford Ranger for over a decade. There are literally tens of millions of them out on the road today. By contrast, the 3.0L Duretec engine is a relative recent addition to the Ford engine fleet (late 90s). Naturally, there is a ton more information out there on the Vulcan than there is regarding the Duretec, and there are that many more resources regarding rebuilds, repairs, tips, etc. In this regard, the Duretec is simply suffering from a lack of relevant information due to its own newness.
Also, the Forum itself is brand new....it actually kind of sprung out of the Ranger Forum which has gotten very busy lately. The 3.0L V6 Forum was only created in May of this year, 2003. See, "New 3.0L Forum!" Naturally, the people who have migrated over from the Ranger Forum from time to time are going to want to discuss the 3.0L Vulcan. So it should really come as no surprise that the 3.0L V6 Forum has been influenced by the Vulcan engine people in its first few formative months.
That being said, I want to assure you that the 3.0L Forum is not some kind of "Vulcan Engine Club" turning a blind eye to the Duretec. That is not the case at all. As I said, there just hasn’t been that many Duretec questions asked, so there hasn’t been that many answered.
As for the 3.0L Tech & Tips Sticky, that is ALWAYS to be considered a work in progress. And again, it is also brand new....I just put it together a few weeks ago (and believe me, it was a time consuming task). I did the best I could with the information I had on hand.
So, I strongly encourage you and anyone else out there with information and tips on the Duretec engine to bring them to my attention! I would like nothing more than to add to the list of tips any kind of information that might help a fellow Ford Truck owner.
Welcome to the FTE 3.0L V6 Forum guys, and please feel free to post any questions about any Ford 3.0L engine ever made!

All Rangers with the 3.0 are Vulcans. Other than the Escape/Tribute, the Duratec is used in cars like the Taurus/Sable. Those vehicles will have a 24V (24 valves) badge, usually near the front fender.
Originally posted by silvapain the problem, at least in my opinion, with the escape is not the optional duartec, but the stock inline four. WAY underpowered for the weight.
I have to agree my wife wanted one of them and she was looking at the four due to gas mileage but she found out what a boat anchor really is..... HELP now she wants a Jag what do I do
