I can just picture these guys quitely driving through downtown Havana late at night on 7/15/03 trying to look inconspicuous with all the drums hanging off it.....
I agree man. I'm only 33, and these days, they're ALL kool old cars and trucks to me (as long as it's American)
But really, I can dig a Chevy or a Ford. Or Buick or Mercury. I have a '60 Olds flat top, know as the Black Maria which is a killer. My '60 F100 (un-named as of yet) is going to be my daily driver starting next month when we move to Kansas.
I'm going for a bachelor's degree in Antique Auto Restoration. I figure I can't own them all! So, I might as well get paid to do this stuff and use other people's money to restore as many as I can for the rest of my life........It's gonna be rough dragging my wife and 3 yr old along, because right now there aren't any jobs available. But it's only scary from this side, ya know? I'm sure it'll all work out. All I know is, when I'm 70, I won't have to wonder about what would have happened if I 'd a taken the chance when I was younger!
Alright I'm done with my "American Dream" speech......
The first thought I had when I heard about this story is look what people will do to get to this terrible, over bearing capitalistic country! Whenever someone , some immigrants themselves, starts to tell me what a terrible country we live in and how they do it better in some other country I direct their attention to the fact there aren't many people risking their lives jumping into leaky make shift watercrafts to get out of here and there are a lot more people on the inbound ships than the outbound ones.
