Taking off from a complete stop I feel one, sometimes 2 big "clunks" and its quite hard to locate, anyone have ideas as to what it is and how to fix it? I ran it by a few people and they didn't seem to know.
Does it happen when stopping as well? I have the same issue and the most likely culprits (in no particular order) are:
Motor mount(s)
Transmission mount
Spline gear
I have a couple of different guys look into it and just from a cursory inspection and drive it hasn't been nailed down specifically yet. Of course since everything else is original on my truck, I'm sure all of mounts and bushings need replacing
I bought mine from a lady that bought it in 96 off the lot, they did regular maintenance on iit but they let a few things go that I gotta take care of lol, thanks for the input
Check radius arm bushings also, I have had them clunk when bad. Could also be a sway bar link or loose shock. So many things can make noise. Need to try and pin point where the noise is on the vehicle, front/rear/middle....
Maybe similar, maybe not, but on my 02 F350 CC/4x4 it would clunk, turns out it was the splines on the drive-shaft, pulled apart, cleaned, lubed, new boot,,, no more clunk.
