E350 / crown vic steering column swap
guys, i cannot find the thread that covered this.... im not hitting the correct key words in my search.... can someone please post the link.... im in a 96 E 350 and looking to swap the crown vic/town car/marquis steering column... i think a 89 to 97 will work.....please advise

I don't think your going to find any threads on this subject.
One, the van steering column is specific only to the E series.
Like the F series will not work on the E series.
Yes, anything is do-able, but will it fit and work..........

good to know... the thread i was reading was for the F series...... so the only way to fix a E series column is to replace the bearings? or find a E column?? local junkyard has a E column but it has a airbag in it......
PLUS.... I cant get the flippin steering wheel off, of my original column, and have pulled the threads out of the wheel's hub!!...... i guess i will need to cut old wheel off, unless someone can suggest an alternative process.

Have someone hold the air chisel to the bolt center of the column in the center, while you pull on the wheel with all you have in you.
The intent is not to ruin the threads, but to vibrate the shaft.
This will work, but be aware when the wheel lets loose, you will probably end up in the back of the van

If you can find a steering column out of a junk yard, that Might be the way to go, But, it also could be as bad or worst than what you have now.
If it's just the bearing that need replacing, that's not too bad of a job. Takes a few hours to R&R.
I just did one last year, you'll need one large bearing and two smaller ones.
If you need the part numbers and the source, ask up and I'll post it.
