Can anyone tell me if you are having problems with the Motorcraft oil filter for your 7.3? I have been changing oil in my automobiles for over 30 years and this oil filter does not want to seal. There is no old seal stuck to it. And I even went on YouTube to watch videos on changing oil for the 7.3 to make sure I wasn't doing anything wrong. Two people used Motorcraft and one used fram and another one used k&E hp6001. Any suggestions.
I've been using the Motorcraft FL-1995 with no issue's for years. For whatever reason, maybe its defective at the seal surface??? Have you tried another FL-1995 filter just to confirm?

Edit: didn't see Brad posted until I posted!
Yes I bought another Motorcraft filter at Walmart and changed it today. I may tighten it a little more and see if that helps.
when my oil cooler started leaking a few years ago, it looked like it was coming from the filter. Check to see if the oil cooler is leaking, it will run off the filter.

well it's been raining here and I've not been driving my truck and but today it's pretty and sunny so I took it out for a test drive and the old filter not leaking quite as bad as it was only about I drop coming down the side and I check the oil cooler and it seems to be in good shape. But on the plus side I've been researching the block heater and I followed the line from the oil cooler and found that I do have a block heater. I'm so happy it must've been putt in when it was new at the factory and it has been tucked away on the right side of the radiator all this time. Yea!! Oh yeah almost forgot oil filter leaking. I'm going to buy a K & N oil filter and give that a try. Thanks everybody.
Yea, they do kind of hide the block heater cord, good find. On the oil filter I tighten by hand then use a wrench and go about 1/8 turn. Once I went more and had a small leak so don't do that anymore.
