I thought about this topic a couple days ago. I was following a Chev Blazer (yr?) that had it's OEM led 3rd blite in a separate bolted on black plastic housing ~ 3/4" high x ~14" long on it's roof. Looked like it would be possible to mount on the rear edge of cab roof.

Maybe, the Blazer roof is flatter than our cabs. The relevant part would be for a 94 - 03 Blazer 4-dr. It would require holes for the mounting screws and wires, something I'd rather avoid.

I think above the rear window works great. 12V conventional seems plenty bright. (by the way, I removed all the cab-top stuff; too much with the bling.)

I cut down an old license plate bracket and bought a re-pop Model A Taillight with the word "Stop" etched in the glass. I mounted it on top of the center bed rail beneath the rear window. I will post a photo tomorrow.

I like that one. I wonder if it can be seen well through a tinted rear glass...

That's what I did. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ll-lights.html

Ok, I am installing the third light on the bed rail behind the cab. How do you wire it? I was thinking about running it off of my tail lights but noticed that when the turn signal is applied it blinks. Do I need to tap into the wiring at the brake pedal or off the master cylinder (easy accessed).
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The third brake light is wired directly from the brake pedal switch. This is usually the pressure switch mounted on the master cylinder or in the brake line out of the master cylinder. Later model vehicles with swing pedals have the switch mounted up under the dash.
