Hey guys I'm tearing this truck down its a 91 ford 250 diesel with the twin I beam front end so I guess I have to take out the third member to get the c clip out for the passenger axle but how does the drivers side come out ..I can't figure this thing out .......any help would be greatly appreciated.....
You posted your follow-up post only three minutes after your first post. Most of us are at work this time of day and are not sitting in front of the computer waiting to answer other people's questions. Have some patience.
For the driver side, you just pull the axle shaft straight out. There's no clip or anything holding it in the differential. The passenger outer shaft slides right out of the slip joint (the thing with the rubber boot on it). You'll have to cut the clamp that holds the boot on the outer shaft first though. To remove the passenger side inner shaft, unbolt the differential from the axle beam, take a pair of needle nose pliers, grab the clip inside, and yank out the clip. Then the shaft slides right out.
