I have a boss 302 hooked to a aod transmisson theres nothing wrong with my motor but when i punch the throttle in gear it makes a clatter noise coming from my transmission can anybidy help plz
Could be just the heat shield around the top of the exhaust... the mounts rust of the the shield will chatter under a load.
get under there and grab the shield (when cold) if it moves, fix it.
Ive got gt40p heads ported n polished bigger cam race headers edelbrock intake 750 holley double pumper dual tone mufflers no cats true duals forged internals aod trans with 2500 stall 295 50 15 rear tires stock rear end
First things first, The year installed was originally equipped with an AOD if not there is where you should start to tackle first, Did you ever remove the engine or trans? Make sure the throttle / kickdown is set properly to communicate correctly if not you WILL burn your AOD very quickly...
Alright imma give a little better breakdown my truck started as the inline 6 with a 4 speed manual the guy that owned it 12 to 13 years ago had the boss 302 put in my dad owned it after that when i got it i yanked the 4 speed out and changed over to aod. I burnt the first aod bc it had a really big leak from the pan bc the plug fell out swapped to another aod and put the tv corrector plate on my carb and very carefully corrected shifting it ahifts amazing and kicksdown pretty good i was thinking maybe a cracked flywheel or bolts in the stall loosening and rubbing on the plate between trans and motor theres a reson i call it the reaper lol
